It Was the Best of Times, It Was the Worst of Times…

APRIL, 2020

Someone once told me that timing is everything and, as Charles Dickens wrote in A Tale of Two Cities, “It was the best of times, it was the worst of times.”

My husband, David, one of the best procrastinators I know… someone who will spend hours, if not days, thinking something through before actually acting on it… is driving me crazy! Why, you might ask, would I start out my very first blog post by saying that? Because he’s literally driving me crazy about getting my new website launched!

Think about that for a moment…

We’re quarantined together in our house alone (except for our two dogs) for the foreseeable future, as we do our part to practice ‘social distancing’ – the new term that has taken over the country – and my constant companion is repeatedly telling me, “It’s time! There’s no better time than the present.”

For David, it is the best of times to do this.

On the other hand, I’ve gone from being the typical ‘think/act/then adjust on the spot’ person to repeatedly saying, “It’s not quite ready.” “I’m not sure I’m ready to do this.” “I’m not sure I even want to.” “I’m too busy.” And best of all… “What does anyone need with yet another website about baking and cooking?”

To me, it is the worst of times.

“It really is all about perspective, isn’t it? Especially in times like these. And there have always been times like these…”

In an effort to answer the question, though, both for me and for you, of why in the world I should launch a new website called My Sweet Tooth Bakery, and at a time like this, let’s consider that perhaps it’s because there’s no time like the present. Or…

Because my husband is a website designer and I can get this done for free… LOL!

Or…

So David will STOP pestering me about it!

Or…

Because, since I threw my daughter her baby shower several months ago, my excitement for baking, creating, and sharing all things ‘kitchen’ has come back with a vengeance!

I’d say it’s all four of those things (in no particular order). So…

Today, as we celebrate Palm Sunday in a very different way than our nation ever has before (virtually, and with most of us attending church online), David and I are launching:

My Sweet Tooth Bakery

I hope that as the weeks and months go by, you will receive as much joy and excitement on this journey through the kitchen as I do!

Thank you for the kind words, Martha. You are my very first posted comment! David is still working on things that will allow you to print a ‘recipe card’ so you can try out some of your favorites. He is also working on completing the SHOP section with links inside the recipes so you can get anything you may be missing to make them as pretty as they are tasty. Keep watching for exciting things to come…
